Gübelin Ipsomatic: A Landmark 170th Anniversary Timepiece
For its 170th anniversary, Gübelin is paying homage to its legacy as a watchmaker. The brand launched its own Gübelin watch designed by star architect Dr. Santiago Calatrava. The platinum Ipsomatic watch, with its iconic, organically curved shapes, is limited to 170 pieces, reflecting the 170th anniversary of the House of Gübelin.
A Fusion of Fine Horology and Organic Architecture: The Ipsomatic is a masterpiece of design, bridging the worlds of high-end watchmaking and monumental architecture. In these two cinematic films, we explore the intricate dialogue between the precious platinum surfaces and the fluid, sculptural lines envisioned by Dr. Santiago Calatrava. Our production focus was to translate the "living" quality of the watch’s design into a visual experience that feels both timeless and avant-garde. The films document the transition from architectural concept to a wearable piece of history.
Cinematic Technique and Macro Precision: To capture the essence of this limited-edition timepiece, we utilized advanced macro-cinematography to reveal the precision of the movement and the unique texture of the platinum casing. The lighting was choreographed to emphasize the signature "Calatrava" curves, creating a sophisticated play of light and shadow that mimics the architect's most famous structures. These films serve as a visual celebration of 170 years of Swiss craftsmanship, documenting a historic collaboration that redefines the boundaries of luxury design and technical artistry.
